"Fort
William Historical Park is a representation of a expansive Hudson Bay Company
fur trade outpost.
All work that we do on this site has to meet specific historical
guidelines,
which is why I feel your product is well
suited for this application."
"I absolutely agree with you
about the importance of flooring. I feel that my floors, baseboards and window
frames are what will create the warmth I want in my home. I noticed a
comment on your website that said 'rustic yet, sophisticated' which is exactly
what I am looking for."
"It's Jim from Forest Lake in Sundridge. You
delivered 1900 sq ft of Northern Ontario Wideplank Red Pine Flooring in
Oct. 2008.
We layed the floor successfully and love it. It is truly a unique and beautiful floor and we are
distressing it the slow way ;-). I was just on your website and noticed that
your wife was an Air Canada flight attendant. Nice picture of her in the 767
with the captains hat!
I was a pilot for AC for 25 years and retired in 2004 to pursue other
flying. I now fly a water bomber in Western Canada in the summers. She looks familiar and I am sure that I worked
with her although I was never on international flights much except for
freighters. I retired as an A320 Captain. Say "hi" from one
Pioneer to
another! Anyway, we love our DIY floor and we will spread the word!"

"It's the perfect floor with my kids and
fido."
"This is the perfect
location (on water) for your floor. We're amazed by the
amount of hard work you put into creating "Kid-and-Dog Friendly, 'Heritage' flooring.". ... we feel lucky."
"My husband, like
most men, hates change. Thank you for 'putting him in his
place' ... which
he absolutely loves, now."
"I wanted to differentiate
my house ... I did not want "a perfect floor" ... but, I did
require professional installation and 'a diamond' finish ... our
floor is functional and beautiful."
"We have enough floor
samples to have done this floor four times over but nothing has struck my
fancy. We ended up putting in a new knotty Alder kitchen (shimmed พ inch to
allow for new floor) to give us an idea of what we wanted, but until we saw
your stunning web site
we havent been able to come up with any ideas that we could both
agree on ... since we built in 1992."
"I've lived with hardwood
flooring ... it looks great but, it's too glossy, high maintenance and dog scratch marks showed up in no time. I want a floor
for our new place that we can live with."
"I purchased a prefinished Maple floor only
five (5) years ago and now it needs re-doing. What I want is a finish that
will last twenty (20) years with heavy traffic of six (6) grandchildren and
their toys here. I live in Port Colborne, Ontario, and no refinishers here
can find such a product? Does this finishing product exist?"
"I knew your floor would
be easy-care ... I've lived with hardwood and carpeting in the days when I
actually loved washing windows and mirrors and waxing floors ... those days
are gone ... my 'distressed' floor has made life easier."
"My wife and I have decided to go for it.
It's a lot of money for us, but we think it is worth it, given your
expertise and my want of it for a long time. I will send full payment from
Tokyo where I am a teacher at the American School.
"We have an Australian
King Shepherd ... nothing we put on the floor will withstand the abuse of a hyperactive 120 lb. dog,
but the 'distressed' floor makes our place Liveable."
 |
Note: Hallway carpet runners and area rugs may be required on top of any
wood floor (in selected areas) to stabilize hyper-active or overweight dogs.
Large dogs and older dogs will initially 'destabilize' before they become
accustom to your new wood floor but, they will adjust
"their walk, stance and activity" within a few days. In addition, when grooming,
clip under your pet's paw pads and between their toenails to clean away excess fur/hair and, of course,
properly clip
and
file toenails to help a dog maintain balance and stability (indoors and
outdoors).
|
"Right from the start,
we knew we wanted something special ... my budget said "Big Box" but, my heart said
no ... I
am a 'Price Shopper'
... but still, I 'blew the budget' on your Parchment Style flooring ... it
is
the best thing I've ever done in my house."
"We have an older dog and she
can't walk on hardwood floors because they're too slippery. At first, we
didn't think your "dog-friendly" flooring would be any different but, it is
an improvement. Thanks for explaining the difference between a manufacture's
UL-coats and your FloodCoat finishing'."
"Hardwood is not wheelchair and
"mobile-scooter" friendly!"

"I love Red Pine ... it has
the warmth ... the ambience we wanted and "the distressed look" makes it
Liveable
... even though we don't have children and a dog, yet."
"We wanted wideplank
boards and we wanted Red Pine ... you had what we wanted."
"We live on a lake ... with family, pets and visitors, I didn't want to be tied to cleaning or fretting over
'wet and sandy' floors."
"My daughter has allergies ... carpeting is out of the question
... carpet underlay 'gases-off'', tile is cold and I didn't want
the
plastic look of
hardwood."
"I'm
a tall man and I have a back problem ... luxury carpeting and underlay only
exacerbated the problem ... polished hardwood was out of the question for
our waterfront home ... your flooring made a remarkable difference."
"I wanted an
eco-friendly product ... I heard about
the Sustainable Forest Management Network
when I was touring the Canadian Ecology Centre in Samuel de Champlain
Provincial Park near Mattawa ... that's where I heard about your eco-friendly
product."
"Hardwood is
just not "real" any more ...
it is medium density fibreboard (MDF) or Engineered Wood (chipboard) with a
thin veneer
top layer ... it "ripples" with the sunlight (because it
warps). I wanted real wood but, you see shiny "hardwoods" everywhere,
dogs 'destroy' them and
they don't have warmth ... your
Red Pine flooring
is perfect for me and my pooch."
"I wanted a rustic, sophisticated country
look in my condo penthouse (Ottawa) I shopped
in Canada and, beyond, for two years before I found 'a married and depressed man'.
"Pine (unlike
hardwood) was the only
wood that could be installed in my
Unwinterized Cottage
...
it was
a natural alternative to hardwoods which can not be used in 'seasonal' buildings
(or below grade)
... and engineered woods. plastic laminates that look cheap and are notorious for scratching and chipping."
"We have an older dog ... she sometimes
piddles and gets sick on the floor ... with broadloom that was a problem ... the carpet smelled and it was impossible to clean."
"We thought we wanted to sell our townhouse
... the realtor
told us we should do something with the
flooring to increase its value and saleability."
(Update:
our new flooring has changed our environment ... we've decided to
stay and makeover the kitchen and bathrooms.
)"
"We
built a stunningly beautiful
hand
scribed log home and installed laminate flooring.
In hindsight, that was 'a mistake'
... it
scratches and chips and the manufacturer and retailer only offered a patch-kit
which does not properly repair the floor. Three years later,
we opted for a Marreed-Prestman floor. It's stunning."
(Update:
During alterations to kitchen cabinets ... a "wall of cabinets with
stained-glass window-doors" came crashing down on the floor resulting is
gashes and scratches in the floor .... Marreed-Prestman repaired the floor
as
'new' in less than half-an-hour)."
"Money was not relevant to my decision ... in a-day-and-age when the
average kitchen costs $15-to-20 G's and the average floor lasts less than
ten years, we knew you offered beauty and value-for-money ... we
wanted to enjoy the ambience of (red) pine ... we have antique furniture and
a modern stainless steel kitchen ... it suited our style."
"Plastic
Floors are for Plastic People.
"... this is a warm floor, a heritage floor ... it fit my expectations.
We're
building a large home and we're here to stay ... we wanted the biggest bang for
our buck
over the long term ... 2,800 square feet is a lot of wood, a lot of work and a pile of
money we're more than happy."
"I build
a home every couple of years on
spec ... the design of this house is cosmopolitan ... I wanted flooring that
would "warm up" the place and enhance its market value ... it sold in one week at list price."
"We've lived for twenty years with plywood
on our cottage floor because my husband I could not agree on flooring
... now that we're retiring to "the cottage", we found what we wanted ... something we could
agree on."
"I have 2,500
square feet of hardwood in my house but, I didn't want to put hardwood in
my new kitchen and family
room addition."
"It's the perfect floor
for my basement Rec-room and home office."
(Note:
Hardwood can not be installed
below grade in basements or in unwinterized
buildings. Conversely, Red Pine flooring can be installed
in basements and in unwinterized
homes and cottages because "it breathes" and it is not grouted like hardwood
flooring which can not take the cold without cracking.)
"I love wide pine ... I have a
Century Home ... it's the floor I wanted (10") to maintain the spirit of the house."
"No-one
else offered The Marreed-Prestman
'Distressed' Look ... the price of reclaimed and barn board flooring was even higher (installed and finished) ... they
are too dry and prone to splintering ... they didn't have
the character of Red Pine and their 'hairspray' finishes would show
every ding, dent and scratch."
"We wanted to move to a country house ... we
could 'cash-in' on our townhouse but the cost of
the country house we wanted was
'out of the question' ... since we do like where we're living (in the city) we decided to take a small
mortgage and upgrade the place to our liking ... the 'distressed' floor,
baseboard trim and (window/door) frames (you did) throughout the house are perfect."
"I'm so
excited that I finally found the "ROCKY ROAD" floor I've been
searching for
for ten years. "
"I have two dogs, two cats and a
Parrott ... so you see, I need your 'distressed' flooring."
"My company installs hardwood flooring ... I have a dozen installers and finishers on staff
but, I know we do not have the
expertise to install and finish 12" wideplank in my
chalet ... I was amazed by vendors who would not
do the work themselves or take
responsibility for the installation and finishing of their product (using my
crew) ...
they just wanted to sell "the romance of pine off-the-rack" and make an easy buck. Your offer to work with my installers and do the final finishing yourself
and take responsibility for the job made the difference."
"My
cottage is special. It's
true, there are faster, cheaper and
easier ways to obtain flooring but I didn't hesitate when I found exactly what I had been looking for.
My place deserved PARCHMENT ... that's what I wanted ... nothings else came close."
"My
place needs a new roof, a new kitchen and a new floor but, I can only do one
of them this year ... I'm doing the floor ... the rest can
wait."
"I couldn't wait to get rid of the
dirty, stained carpet and cracked linoleum."
"My partner is a 'Pine
Person' ... if she could have a 'Pine Man', she'd have one ... I think
that's you."
Notable Quotes
"Do you sell to the United
States? I live in Washington Missouri, USA. (ZC: 63090). If I ordered 3,000 sq. ft. of "distressed Red Pine
wide planks" for a
major home renovation project, could you give me an approximate cost for
Northern Ontario Red Pine Lumber in 10" width, plus shipping costs? Thank you. D. Walde, Wash. Mo., phone 636 xxx-xxxx"
Reply: "Daniel: Sorry, I am unable to
ship into the U.S. due to current U.S. regulations and prohibitive paperwork.
"I really appreciate the time
you took to come to our home and show me large samples... I would love to
have you install your beautiful red pine."
