Be fair to yourself ... determine your
actual requirements before 'factoring' prices...
In my experience, people
rush to guesstimate their flooring requirements which falsely encourages or
discourages them when they calculate the cost of their flooring project ... if
you underestimate your requirements, you may be surprised by
the actual square footage and appropriate budget requirement ... if you
overestimate
you may 'disqualify' yourself based on false 'pricing' information. Neither
situation is advantages.
Calculate your actual sq. ft. flooring requirements as accurately as
possible? This exercise may surprise you .... if you are
building or renovating an 1,850 sf. house, you may only require 1,250 sf. of
'distressed' Wideplank Red Pine Flooring plus, utility flooring.
1a)
Measure the interior of each room (excluding walls, including
closets) then, remove the footprint for the kitchen and
bathroom cabinets/counters, tubs/showers, staircase, fireplace/stove base
areas and closets that you may not want done, etc., to determine a fair
measure. (Remember, 'building plans' may change. Avoid 'exterior' dimensions.)
1b) Consider Cutting and
Fitting 'waste' ... it may be higher than expected, as this, in part, changes
as your plans progress, depending on the 'complexity' of the 'final' floor
layout, belated floor plan changes including cabinets, counters,
bathroom fixtures, fireplace, stairs and wall locations ... but, more
importantly, consider the skill, experience and efficiency of the installation
crew.
1c) Consider your budget
requirements. If budget is "an issue" when considering "wall-to-wall" artistic
flooring, consider doing selective areas ... the critical living areas ... use
utility flooring in other areas. Keeping, in mind, the more types of flooring
used, the more "chopped-up" the building will look.
1d)
Stairways are not to be included in square
footage measurements. Stair Risers, Treads and Mouldings are priced
separately.

site or, your home if you are working from plans. I assess 'job issues',
your requirements, options, timelines, methods, budget and 'vision' ... you
take advantage of my knowledge and expertise. Whether you Do-it-Yourself,
hire a local contractor or have me install and finish. My On-Site
Consultation, with you, will inevitably save you Space, Time, Money and
Frustration.
Half (50%) of my On-Site
Consultation Service Fee is credited to either your Full Installation
or DIY: Do-it-Yourself/Contractor Lumber Supply order when your order is
booked within ninety (90) days of my visit. Lastly, unlimited "Telephone
Advisory Guidance" is available for DIY's thru job completion. From the
selection of wood to installation technique and finishing products and, of
course, assurance that you avoid major problems associated with jack posts,
subfloors, and the like. We arrange a time for you to call and I answer your
questions while your project is underway and as a "back-up" if you have any
questions thereafter.

Do-it-Yourself NORTHERN ONTARIO
WIDEPLANK RED PINE LUMBER SUPPLY may be still available
(3-4 week delivery from receipt of deposit) whereas, Full
Installations are SOLD OUT every year, usually by August ... my tenth
(10th.) successful and most enjoyable year.
2012 BOOKINGS (with deposit) are
available for Full Installations and Artistic Finishing's and
for
cost-effective Do-It-Yourself Orders. Book as far in advance as
possible to avoid price increases and guarantee the availability of
product when you want it!
Generally, I respond to a e-mail requests for specific information or a
Complimentary On-Line Quote within a day or two (including weekends.)
when a potential client has provided the information required (above).
However, I do travel to job sites without regular 'com-access' and may not
be able to respond until 'days later'.

demand disruption of creating, packaging and shipping
Complimentary Samples to potential clients prior to completing a
complimentary online quotation. Once your quotation is prepared and you
wish to pursue samples of what you desire, Custom Samples are created
prepared, packed and shipped to you at No Charge. Alternately and, prior to
completing a Complimentary On-Line Quotation, you may order
custom-order ARTISTIC SAMPLES created, prepared and shipped to you upon
demand — without a complimentary On-Line or On-Site Consultation — @ $
75.00 per Custom Sample, including shipping charge.
It is important to note
that floors viewed on my website are photographed when they are freshly
installed ... they will look and ‘feel’ warm in less than a year. New
floors look almost white in colour (in their unstained and/or bleached
areas) and appear in high contrast ... in six to eight months lighter
wood-coloured surfaces will start to take on a Golden-Amber patina due to
the effect of UV-Light rays ... the aged look and warmer 'feel' Clients
value. After that time transition Red Pine flooring looks rich and vibrant
yet, ‘old world’ ... unlike manufactured woods, Red Pine is a natural
product that has a calming effect on people.
View “Feature Home” for a
fair representation of what the "light-coloured" areas of the wood floor
will eventually become. Should you not want the colour of the wood to
change to Golden-Amber then, UV-blocking TopCoats are required when
finishing.
